about

Most of these were done in 2010-11. it was a really productive time , but i just recorded loads of stuff and never did anything with, didnt listen back didnt convert to audio file.. now alot of these i don't even recognise, i dont remember them

Generally though, i was trying to create multilayered tones that i could improvise over with loads going on.. i wanted it to sound like there was loads of different sections: loads of jittery echoes for that rhythmic sense, deep bass sounds, long reverbing synths and strings, and melodies too.. But it was just me playing a guitar in one take.

Creating complex tones like this meant that sometimes it descended into outta control feedback and the only postproduction i did was in cutting the volume when it went like that.

It's great with the current trend of artists to dump archives of material, and it's why i went back and had a listen to it all this, organize it, all that seemingly non-creative admin stuff.. but it was surprising i was like alot of this is ok, my memory was that most descended into chaos.. but the ambient, pensive, contemplative feel i was going through does seem to come through.

It was fun thinking about artwork based on the titles and the music and making small adjustments, a bit of noise here and there to fit with the music. Also, my internet has gone all dial up stylee so it took like 20 mins to upload a short track! finding artwork passed the time. Oh yeah talking of length one of the things I learnt was how to let tracks be long.. who cares that people want a 3 minute 45 seconds track.. just let them breathe, let them be as long as they're meant to; i'm not making ditties here.
