doing music at school put me off music. when i was 12/13 we had music class in what we thought was a haunted part of the old school. our teacher was like a ghost - victorian stern rigid - a solid ghost. she once claimed she lived in dover castle which, when i visited a few years later, discovered was a ruins.

she used to aggressively push our fingers down on the keyboard keys when we got it 'wrong'. everything was a punishment. we got our own back by 'accidentally' playing the demo track at full volume when she was speaking. once when she was late we arranged to all have our keyboards playing the demo tune at the same time: a wonderful cacophony of 20 keyboards. class detention was worth it.

i'm glad that i taught myself; that i did what i wanted.

here's to music that gets it wrong. fuck your music theory.

this is my 99th bandcamp album. next one will be 100. i'm pressing publish with not a little trepidation. i wanted to do something special for the next one but i'm not sure i will. i like working prolifically, with quick ideas, improvising, seeing how much i can do in a short space of time. i like the sense of real time poetry: with so many tracks the titles turn into sentences + non sequiturs, links appear and disappear, the sounds flow and jar.
